1. Disable app tracking.
Apps track you to customise
ads for you based on the searches you do, apps you use, how long you spend on
these apps, the content you use and view on these apps and places you go.
If you want to block apps from tracking go to Settings > Privacy and tap "Tracking".
At the top there's a toggle
that reads "Allow apps to request
to track". If you don't want any apps on your phone to request
tracking information, toggle this off.
- just a quick tip:
go down
to the bottom of Settings > Privacy and tap on "Record App Activity". Toggle it to on, now wait for a week or two. After a few days return to that
menu option and you'll be able to see a breakdown of how various apps have been
using permissions on your phone, you can see if any of these apps are accessing
information like your location or other personal information. You can also opt
to save a report as a blank binary file that you can share and save.
iOS 15 includes
a feature called "Scheduled Summary" that allows you to bundle all of
the less important notifications together and later deliver them at the same scheduled
time, rather than getting a lot of random pings throughout the day.
To enable
this feature, go to Settings > Notifications and tap on "Scheduled Summary". Toggle
it on and work through the setup process. Now you can choose the apps which you
want to include in the summary. To do so tap on "Add Apps" at the bottom.
On the
next screen – You can choose the times you want your first and second summaries
to be delivered. If you want more frequent updates, let’s say during your lunch
break, you can tap the "+" to add more summaries throughout the day.
3. Double tap the back to screenshot
With the
correct accessibility functions enabled you can simply tap the back of your
phone twice to take a screenshot. This will be a great option if you don’t want
to be fiddling with button combinations.
To get
this feature active go to Settings
> Accessibility > Touch and select "back tap". Select the double-tap option and find the “Screenshot” option in the list.
Now when
you double-tap the back of your phone, it'll take a screenshot for you. You can
also choose other functions the double tap can perform like dropping down
notifications or the control centre, to make them easier to reach with a
one-handed grip.
4. Create Your Very Own Photographic Style
Another camera feature on
the new iPhone models is a feature called Photographic Styles. It’s not just a
simple filter, this allows you to adjust things like contrast, warmth and
brightness to create an aesthetic and feel that will be applied to all your
photos when you take them.
To get this set up, open up Settings > Camera, scroll to "Photographic Styles". Scroll through all of the options until you find a look that you love. Once you've found the one, tap the blue button at the bottom. You are done
.
This is an old favourite,
but it is a definite must. If you want to accurately move your cursor when
typing, you can turn your keyboard into a quick access trackpad by simply long-pressing
the space bar and swiping your thumb until the cursor lands on the spot you
want it.
The newer iPhone 13 Pro models record video in HDR or Dolby Vision by default, which not only takes up a lot of space, but sometimes also isn't compatible with other devices. To switch this off, go to Settings > Camera and tap on "Record Video". Toggle the option that says "HDR Video" to off. Done.
